| Comitis: They can play in the PSL easily

Cape Town City FC chairman John Comitis is adamant that his new recruits will surprise many this coming season. Speaking exclusively to KickOff, Comitis revealed that Rai Vloet and Marcelo Suarez, two foreigners who have joined the Citizens, can play in the Betway Premiership with their eyes closed.

"There's others that people don't know yet. There's two foreigners, and those are serious players," Comitis said. "They can play in the PSL with their eyes closed. The one was at PSV Eindhoven as a starting line-up player, and the other one plays for the national team of Bolivia. Two-three months ago, he was playing against Lionel Messi and Argentina."

The Citizens have also added former Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United midfielder Thabang Monare to their roster. With these new signings, the team is looking to return to the topflight after falling short in the play-offs last season.

League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 2nd in 1st Division, 54 pts, 15W-9D-6L from 30 games, recent form WWWDL.

The team has scored 45 goals this season, conceding 23, resulting in a +22 goal difference. They are currently 8 points behind leaders Kruger United in the title race.

"We're in a good position, but we need to keep pushing," Comitis said. "We can't afford to drop points, and we need to keep winning to catch up with the leaders."

Comitis is confident that his new signings will make a difference and help the team win the Motsepe Foundation Championship title. With Rai Vloet and Marcelo Suarez leading the charge, the Citizens are ready to take on the challenge.

"They're going to surprise a lot of people this coming season. They're going to play with their eyes closed and still manage to win games," Comitis said.
